The use of chemicals in industry is widespread and vital in almost every manufacturing process. It also presents potential exposure hazards to workers. In addition, many industrial processes utilize machinery and equipment that generates noise.

It is the Employer’s responsibility to ensure that no worker is exposed to a chemical, physical or biological agent that exceeds its assigned exposure limit.

The key to preventing occupational illnesses related to chemical, physical and biological exposures is to anticipate/recognize potential exposures, evaluate and measure the exposure level and implement the Hierarchy of Controls to eliminate or minimize the exposure.
